Armchair Violon
Leather and fabric
Rizzatto Paolo
The Violon armchair boasts an elastic shell which perfectly adheres to one’s body. The armchair is inspired by Man Ray’s “Le violon d’Ingres” (1924), where the model appears with treble clefs painted on her back. Violon’s shell is able to perform an elastic deformation, so it always returns to its original shape. By making leather its material of choice, Alias takes one step forward by joining leather and thermo-sealed plastic, creating an innovative and elastic surface. Violin is proposed in two versions: one with a thermo-formed and leather shell completed by two cushions; the second (Violon Soft), has a padded shell completely upholstered in removable leather or fabric. In both versions the shell rotates on a four-legged base in cast aluminium. The collection is completed by a practical ottoman.
